2008 Local Rainfall Challenge

During 2007, in general, the southern suburbs of Canberra received considerably more rain than suburbs to the north.  Tuggeranong, which received a battering from several large thunderstorms during the first couple of months of 2007, recorded the most rain for the year, with 656.0mm.  To illustrate the difference between north and south Canberra suburbs, this was a massive 157mm more than the total rainfall recorded here at the Gungahlin Weather Centre, just 35km N/NE of the Tuggeranong weather station.
