Lake Eucumbene (1,180m asl), located 7km SE of Adaminaby, is part of the 'Snowy Mountains Scheme'. On completion in 1974, the Scheme consisted of seven power stations, 16 major dams, 145 kilometres of inter-connected tunnels and 80 kilometres of aqueducts. Eucumbene dam is 116.1m high, was completed in 1958 and Lake Eucumbene has a shoreline of 6,735,300 m3. Today, the original township of Adaminaby (once known as Seymour) lies under the lake and when the lake drops many of the foundations of the old town can be seen on the banks. * Note: The tables above are provided as a guide to the monthly weather conditions recorded at Lake Eucumbene (Old Adaminaby). As daily weather data is not always available, caution should be exercised when making assumptions based on the tables. Also, the weather station at Old Adaminaby operates during daylight hours only. Therefore, minimum temperatures shown in the data above are likely to be warmer than those actually experienced at the site. This would also significantly affect the total rainfall shown, as rain falling after dark is not recorded and therefore not included in the above tables. Update: From July 2010, the Old Adaminaby Weather Station operated 24hrs a day. Data from this date includes minimums for the 24hr period. This has greatly increased the accuracy of the data in the tables from this date (especially minimum temperatures and rainfall).
