Water catchment receives a boost

15 June 2007

ACTEW says today's rain has failed to reach the Cotter catchment, but Googong has received decent falls.

Canberra has received more than ten millimetres since midnight and ACTEW's Marlene Stolt says it is not enough to head off tougher water restrictions.

But she says falls of up to 20 millimetres at Googong are encouraging.  "What we can expect over the Googong catchment is to receive some good inflow because of decent rainfall that we've had over there," she said.  "We're also seeing good rainfall in Cooma so that means that the flows in the Murrumbidgee River will pick up."
