Towns turn winter white.

14 June 2007

Motorists are being urged to proceed with caution on roads in and around the ACT this morning.

A combination of snow and rain has forced the closure of the Kings Highway between Bungendore and Queanbeyan.

A car has overturned on Karinga Drive in Spence closing traffic in both directions.

The weather bureau says so far there has been little snow in Canberra and the capital will see only showers this weekend.

Up to an inch has fallen in Captain's Flat and Bungendore.

Duty forecaster Paul Corello says alpine areas will benefit in the coming days.  "Alpine areas expecting to see further snow showers above 1300 metres, but for the ACT I suspect we'll just see a few showers," he said.
