Hot temperatures and high humidity combined to create some spectacular storm
activity across Gungahlin during the first week of February.
Between February 2nd and 5th, a series of afternoon thunderstorms dumped some
67.2mm of rain across Gungahlin, with falls in other parts of Canberra even
heavier.

A brief, severe storm hit Gungahlin at 7.30pm tonight. The storm was short
lived, lasting only a few minutes, but it dumped 5.0mm of rain at the Weather
Centre. At one point the rain was falling at 202.2mm/hr!
4 February 2011
More severe storms passed over Gungahlin today. Between 3pm &
5pm, thunder, lightning & very heavy rain squalls lashed the suburbs
causing minor flash flooding as the rain rate hit 149.6mm. At
one stage, 6 inches of water covered Gungahlin Dr. This
afternoons storms left 28.0mm of rain behind and dropped
temperatures by 12°C in less than 30 mins. Canberra AP
recorded 42.4mm and Tuggeranong 36.6mm.

A series of storms that passed through Gungahlin from 8pm last night, and
continued on and off o/night, left 34.0mm of rain behind. At one stage,
rain was falling at a rate of 137.2mm/hr. Other areas received heavier
falls. Tuggeranong recorded 83.6mm and Canberra AP 42.8mm. More
storms are predicted this evening.

Shortly after 8.30pm a line of storms passed over Gungahlin, rapidly dropping
temperatures and dumping 16.6mm of rain in 30mins. At one stage, the rain
was falling at 137.2mm per hour.
