

Weather conditions across Gungahlin during April were rather warm and dry, with both day and night temperatures well above average.
Nights were unseasonably mild, with an average minimum of 8.8°C (6.5°C last year). The warmest night occurred on April 14 when the temperature was 13°C, while on April 28 it dropped to a cold 3°C.
Days were predominantly mild and clear, with an average maximum of 22.2°C, well up on last year's average of 21.5°C. The highest temperature was 27°C, recorded on April 12, while on April 14, Gungahlin's maximum reached just 15°C.
Gungahlin received 3 fogs during the month, including a real 'pea-souper' on April 11 but, given the mild night time conditions, we recorded no frosts.
Winds averaged at 2.2 km/h during the April, making it the calmest month so far this year. The strongest gust recorded was a 30.6 km/h northerly on April 3.
Rainfall was, for the second April running, well down on normal. The total for the month was just 12.0mm (5.2mm in 2001) with rain falling on 9 days. Totals around the local area were also fairly light, with the Airport receiving 21.2mm for the month and Holt just 7.6mm.
Gungahlin's May Outlook: Current indications are for a continuation of the unseasonably dry and warm weather well into May. Daytime temperatures should average at 16°C, but nights will become quite cold and average at 3°C.
