

Historically ANZAC Day has averaged 5.8°C to 18.1°C. The highest maximum so far recorded has been 23.9°C in 1973, today's maximum (25/4/2002) of 25°C surpasses the existing record since measurements began at the airport in 1939. The coldest ANZAC day was 11.6°C in 1946. The coldest and warmest minimums occurred on successive years, with 13.5°C in 1998 followed by -3.7°C in 1999.
A study of the rainfall records at the airport indicates that the 24 hour period from 9am April 26 is the driest for the entire year. Over the past 63 years there has been just 14.8mm, the wettest being 1991 when 4.0mm was recorded.
